Full Day Kindergarten Update - May 16
May 16th, 2012
At the May 14th meeting, the Board approved expanding our Full-Day Kindergarten to all interested parents. The Full-Day program will be offered in all 12 elementary schools. As of this hour, 92.6% of our parents have selected the Full-Day Kindergarten program.
We will continue to offer Half-Day Kindergarten at some elementary sites. A bus shuttle service will transport children to centralized sites if their neighborhood elementary does not have sufficient enrollment or is not selected as one of the Half-Day sites.
Based on current numbers, we would plan to offer our Half-Day Kindergarten program at three “centralized” school sites: Harrison Parkway, Lantern Road and Thorpe Creek. New Britton will offer its own Half-Day program because its numbers can support it.
| Half-Day Sites | Feeder Schools | | NBE | NBE | | HPE | HPE, CRE, SCE | | LRE | LRE, FES, HRE | | TCE | TCE, BSE, DES, FCE, GES |
We will continue to enroll new students, and some parents will change their programming decisions for their children already enrolled. If Half-Day numbers drop and a third centralized site is not needed, just Lantern Road and Thorpe Creek would house the “centralized” Half-Day program. New Britton will continue to offer its own Half- Day program because its numbers can support it. | Half-Day Sites | Feeder Schools | | NBE | NBE | | LRE | LRE, CRE, HPE, FES, HRE | | TCE | TCE, BSE, DES, FCE, GES, SCE |
