John Delucia John Delucia
Board Member

John is a long‐time HSE Schools district resident and parent; he feels the great variety of roles he’s filled in the community gives him a healthy perspective on things.

DeLucia and his wife Amy are the parents of three: Joshua, 2006 HSEHS grad and 2010 IU grad now working in the IT sector locally; Jillian, a 2010 FHS grad and student and basketball player at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame; and Jack, 2013 FHS grad and freshman at IUPUI.

DeLucia said his children have attended Cumberland Road, HSE Middle School, Sand Creek Intermediate, New Britton, Fishers Junior High, HSE High School, Riverside and Fishers High School. He and his wife have been “very pleased” with the education their children have received. During that time he has been a coach, Sunday school teacher, Baseball Board of Directors member as well as Academy of Finance Board member and mentor with the Youth Mentoring Initiative. John served as the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation liaison until recently and also has served on the Fishers YMCA Board of Advisors.

DeLucia feels we are very fortunate to have an outstanding school corporation and wonderful community. One of his goals is to help maintain our level of excellence in these difficult financial times while always looking for ways to improve. We have many great organizations serving our community in various ways. John would like to help forge strategic relationships among many of these to serve even more effectively.

John has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Near Eastern languages and cultures, graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and served for four years as an Arabic linguist in the U.S. Navy. Most of his career has been in financial services, and he currently serves as the Chief Lending Officer for Citizens State Bank.>

Sylvia Shepler Sylvia Shepler
Board Vice President

Sylvia Shepler is in her third term as a member of HSE’s School Board. She presently serves as Board Secretary and HSE’s policy liaison. Besides substitute teaching and classroom volunteering in the past, Mrs. Shepler has volunteered with the Agape Therapeutic Riding Center, 4-H, Campus Life program, and with her church as a Sunday school teacher. She is also a Master Gardener and has a B.S. degree from Purdue University.

She and her husband Bill have four children, all graduates from Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Alicyn is a graduate of Purdue University; Rebekah, a graduate from Liberty University in Virginia; Nicole, a graduate of University of Southern Indiana; and Stephanie, a Purdue University grad. Now that her children have started their own families, she will see her first grandchild enter HSE's kindergarten program next year.

In the future, Mrs. Shepler sees HSE students’ education moving from “very good to great,” making improvements where appropriate and continuing to supplement the education that parents have begun and continue at home, along with the caring, knowledgeable, and passionate education that HSE 's teachers provide. With all this in mind, she still trusts that with innovations, technology, stretching of the budget and curriculum etc., we as a school community will not lose sight of the fundamentals of learning and our students’ lives beyond the K-12 school

Amanda Shera Amanda Shera
Board Member

A mother of two, Amanda Shera, intentionally moved from Indianapolis to the HSE School District six years ago to enroll her kids in the double science STEM program. Her family particularly appreciated the opportunity to take high school classes in junior high and advanced placement/dual credit classes for college while in high school.

Her son, Thomas, is a senior at Fishers High School, headed to Purdue University to study Computer Science and is on the Science Olympiad team. Her daughter, Deborah, also is a sophomore at FHS. Outside of her studies, running for both the cross country and track teams as well as attending Cru Indy keeps her active. Both are on the math team.

In stark contrast, Amanda grew up on the near eastside of Indianapolis, changing schools 10 times. She persevered, graduating from Thomas Carr Howe High School and attended Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and passing the CPA exam. Her career hallmark includes working at AdminaStar Federal as a Medicare and Medicaid auditor. Now a full-time mom, she attends Faith Church and is a contributing member of their Women of Faith group. In 2016, she was inducted as a member of the Fishers Rotary Club.

Amanda's goal is always to pay it forward. In so doing, she has volunteered in many roles from room mom to Triangle Club officer and currently supports the FHS Science Olympiad team as well as mentors through the Youth Mentoring Initiative.

Believing that all students can learn at high levels, Amanda strives to work jointly with staff, community, and parents to help students become stellar, independent, productive, contributing citizens of our Fishers community.

Michelle Fullhart Michelle Fullhart
Board Secretary

Michelle Fullhart has been actively involved in Hamilton Southeastern Schools since 1991 as a staff member, parent, and PTO volunteer. She is a native of Fort Wayne, IN, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Miami University in Oxford, OH as well as a Master's Degree in Education from Ball State University. She taught first and second grade students for 11 years in Hamilton Southeastern Schools at Fall Creek and New Britton Elementary Schools.

Her passion for technology also provided her with an opportunity to serve as the webmaster for HSE (1997-2004). During her last two years in the classroom at New Britton, she served as a pilot teacher for the HSE21 program, using iPads 1:1 as part of instruction with her second grade class.

Michelle is married to her husband, Greg, and has three children. Together, they continue to support key education initiatives and have served the school district in various volunteer capacities. Both are proponents of HSE's Destination Imagination, an organization that is committed to challenging students to solve problems creatively using skills from science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

As one of HSE’s newest board members, Michelle looks forward to supporting the school community and continuing the growth of our great schools.
