Academic Organizations / Clubs

Academic Team
Sponsor: Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Clark
This team of academically motivated students participates in Spell Bowl, Quiz Bowl, Channel 13 Brain Game, and Academic Super Bowl. Students at any grade level may participate.
DECA
Sponsor: Ms. Lidstrom
This club is open to students who wish to explore a career in business, especially marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. DECA is an international organization in which students compete in various role plays and written events at the District, State, and National/International level. A wide variety of competitive events are available including Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Apparel and Accessories Marketing, Business Law and Ethics, E-Commerce Management, Automotive Services and much more. Prior business classes, while helpful, are not required.
Destination Imagination
Sponsor: Mrs. Seitz
This is a creative-problem solving competition that is international in scope. It includes elements of technology, drama, set and costume design and improvisational skills. Regional competition is in February and Global finals are in May. This is for the whole school year.
FFA
Sponsor: Mr. Youngs and Mrs. Keffaber
This is for students who are enrolled in an Agriculture/Science class. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Math Club (Math Team)
Sponsor: Mrs. Bakle-Niehoff and Mrs. Jackson
This team is composed of students who are interested in socializing with others while problem-solving. This club sponsors mathematics competitions including Mathfax, Indiana Math League, Rose Hulman Math Day, the American Mathematics Competition, and the Indiana State Math competition. Students must be active members of Math Club in order to be eligible for Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honorary. This club is open to any student.
Military History Club
Sponsor: Mr. Marcotte
Members seek to improve their understanding of the role that military history has played and continues to play in the affairs of nations and individuals. Map studies, guest lecturers, field trips, films and book reviews are featured at the meetings.
Mock Trial Team
Sponsor: Ms. Chandler
This is a team of students who have had or are currently taking Constitutional Law. If needed, students can be recruited from Law Education as well. These students practice weekly during their season to prepare for various legal competitions within the area. Success may also net national competition.
Southeastern Bands
An organization dedicated to the HSE High School Bands and Color Guard.
Speech Team
Sponsor: Mr. Houchen
Students compete in 3-6 meets a year. Competitions are in various categories including dramatic interpretation, humorous interpretation, discussion, poetry, original oratory, and impromptu.

Hockey

Men's Lacrosse
The purpose of this organization is to promote men's lacrosse among the students at HSE and Fishers High Schools. There will be tryouts to make this team, please click the link above for more information. There are both JV and Varsity teams with a full schedule.
Men's Volleyball
Sponsor: Jeff Wilkins
The purpose of this organization is to promote men's volleyball among the students in HSE Schools. Open gyms are open for all students that live in the corporatation from 6th - 12th grade. Fundamental skills are taught during these open gyms. During the High School season from Feb - May, only current HHS students making the team are allowed to participate.

Foreign Language Organizations / Clubs

French Club
Sponsor: Ms. L. Geelhoed, Mrs. E. King
Open to students currently enrolled in, or who have completed one year of high school French. Students participate in activities involving the culture of France. Its purpose is to further the interest in the French language and culture.
German Club
Sponsor: Ms. Reigle
Open to any student currently enrolled in, or who has completed one year of German. Its purpose is to further interest in German language and culture.
Spanish Club
Sponsor: Mrs. Engle and Mrs. Gunderson
Open to students currently enrolled in, or who have taken one year of Spanish. Members will experience the Spanish language and culture through activities which include food, music, art, dance, holiday celebrations, cultural traditions and more!

Hobby Organizations / Clubs

Break Dance Club
Sponsor: Mr. Link and Mr. Richardson
This club is for anyone interested in learning to breakdance or even hip hop dance. You join and learn off each other and dance for fun. It is a great activity to do with friends. This group meets once a week after school.
Dance Team
Sponsor: Ms. Sierra Stephens
Is a competitive group of dancers who promote and encourage school spirit.  Fishers and HSE high school dancers make up the combined team called The Fishers Fusion Dance Team that practices and competes as one team.  Dancers perform during football and basketball games at their respective schools along with competing at local, regional, state and national competitions throughout the year. For Junior Varsity, 1+ years, and for Varsity 3+ years of Ballet and Jazz training is encouraged but not required.  Tryouts are held in April.
Drama Club
Sponsor: Ms. Armstrong
Anyone interested in the theatre is welcome to become involved in this club. Students may participate in all aspects of theatre production— set construction, lighting, sound, acting, promotion, back stage crew, costumes, properties. Students from this club may also become involved in the technical aspects of other fine arts related performances, such as choir concerts.
Environmental Science Club
Sponsor: Mr. Guenin
This club is organized to provide ongoing information about world/local environmental concerns, and to discover ways to deal with them. As a club, some of our big projects are paper recycling and Earth Day Awareness. We also provide information about the field of science, science careers and the connections between science and the environment.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Sponsor: Mr. Guenin and Mrs. Wiseman
An interdenominational Christian organization, open to all students, not just athletes, who want to join together in fellowship. The group meets every week for games, snacks, singing, and Bible study.
Film Club
Sponsor: Mr. Follis
For any student interested in film-making or filmwatching. Members will watch, critique, and discuss the genres, directors, styles, process and art of film. Students will be able to create a short student-made film this year and have it judged and shown in our annual student film festival.
Harry Potter Club
Harry Potter Club is open to everyone who is interested in sharing their love for Harry Potter, or learning more about the magical world! Join us and get sorted into a Hogwarts House, play muggle Quidditch, and compete for the House Cup!"
Philosophy Club
Sponsor: Mr. Pletcher
Students will study the great philosophers, world views and religions of the world based on their own belief system. The format will encourage open discussion, Socratic dialogs, questioning, and healthy debate in order to help students understand other views and to defend and stretch their own views.
Ping Pong Club
This club is open to novice and advanced players alike to come together before and/or after school to practice and hone their skills. Activities may range from casual play to after school tournaments.
Robotics Club
Sponsor: Mr. Wilkins
The purpose of this club is to encourage creative design through the use of robotics.  The robotics club participates in multiple competitions throughout the year and has a table display at various math and science nights at the local elementary schools.  The robotics club meets on Monday’s from 3-3:55pm.
S.S.T.E.P.
Sponsor: Mrs. Penelton and Ms. Habiq
This club is a rhythmic dance team similar to those of the African American Greek organizations. It is open to all students who enjoy dance, music and learning rhythmically challenging routines. S.S.T.E.P. members meet weekly. Practices include a 40 minute study table, student discussions about various issues relevant to their personal and academic needs/goals, scholarship opportunities information, and motivational exercises to promote personal and academic growth. S.S.T.E.P. Performs at various school functions to include pep rallies and sporting events. We are more than just a step team. We are a team stepping toward the goal of personal excellence. "Stepping is what we do….but excellence is who we are".
Ski / Snowboarding Club
Sponsor: Mrs. Beaulieu and Mr. Davis
This club visits Perfect north Resort in Indiana on Friday nights beginning in January after winter break. All ski/snowboard levels are accepted, including those who have never skied/ snowboarded. Students receive lessons with the passes.
Swing Dancing Club
Sponsor: Mr. Salvadori
The swing dancing club meets after school once a week to teach students East Coast and Lindy Hop styles of social swing dancing. Dances are held at least once a month for club members to practice outside of lessons. Members are not expected to have any prior dancing knowledge or partner to dance with.

Honorary Organizations / Clubs

International Thespian Society
Sponsor: Ms. Armstrong
An educational honorary established to maintain and advance standards of excellence in all phases of theater arts with an active and intelligent interest in connection to our school’s theatre program. Students are involved in all theatrical productions. Eligibility to the troupe is granted after students have met the society’s required points which allows a student to audition for the thespian play in the spring. HSE, Troupe #520, has been a member of ITS since 1980.
National Honor Society
Sponsor: Mrs. McGrath and Mrs. Shipley
This is an organization that rewards students for their academic achievements and service to the community and school. In order to be a member, a student must complete an application in the spring of his/her sophomore or junior year. A student must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher and participated in clubs, organizations or athletics. The student’s application will be reviewed by a faculty committee and acceptance will be based on the factors of scholarship, leadership, character and service. Inductions will take place in the fall of every school year.
Quill and Scroll
Sponsor: Mrs. J. Carson
Composed of students who have excelled in the HSE publications program. Students must be a Junior or Senior, place in the upper 1/3 of their class, have served on a publication at least one year, and have a recommendation by their adviser. The members also complete volunteer hours. An annual banquet is held to recognize all the publications staff.

School Service Organizations / Clubs

Best Buddies High School
Sponsor: Mrs. Collesano and Mrs. Ventura
This club pairs special education students with general education students in 1 to 1 friendships. By becoming a High School Peer Buddy, volunteers offer a Buddy the chance to explore a new way of life and feel included in the high school environment.
Dance Marathon
Sponsor: Mrs. Gray, Mrs Penelton, Miss Clancy, Mrs. Carson
The HSE Dance Marathon is a fundraiser for Riley Hospital. Money raised goes towards research for infectious diseases in children. All HSE students are eligible to participate. Activities during the marathon include dancing as well as crafts, dinner and speeches by Riley Kids. The Dance Marathon will be held the 3rd Saturday in March. There will be a callout meeting during the Fall semester and opportunities for planning and fundraising will begin at that time. Our motto is "Big hearts helping little hands".
Families, Careers, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Sponsor: Mrs. Trinkle
A co-curricular, vocational student organization that focuses on community service and leadership development. Many of the service projects involve working with children through Hamilton County head start, the March of Dimes and our local community. We sponsor a children’s Christmas party and adopt Head Start children for the holidays. Our chapter is active at the district, state and national levels in competitions and conferences.
High Five Fridays Club
Sponsor: Miss Clancy
We are proud of our school unity and students can enhance this by joining this club. Members high five each other in the hallway on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. There are no requirements and no club dues, although high five t-shirts may be purchased from Miss Clancy. Members of the club may take part in a monthly service project at the Red Cross in Noblesville for "Kids Against Hunger". All HSE students and staff are welcome to join.
Interact Club
Sponsor: Mrs. Barras
A rotary sponsored service club for high school students. The group will participate in various service projects, at least one for the local community and one outside the community to further international understanding.
Key Club
Sponsor: Emily Gossett
A service organization for high school students. It is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club. Key Club’s objective is the development of initiative, leadership ability, and good citizenship practices. Several activities are scheduled throughout the year. Open to all interested students.
Royal S.W.A.G.
Sponsor: Mrs. Buzzard
A student led service club that functions to promote positivity, increase school spirit and better the overall atmosphere of our school. This vision is accomplished through random acts of kindness, service projects and post-game clean up sessions. The goals of this club are to see the school smile, to have an identifiable, contagious change in attitude and to better the school as a whole. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to join.
Student Council
Sponsor: Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Stansberry and Mrs. Ewing
Members are elected to this group from their respective classes each year. They are responsible for many social and philanthropic activities in the high school such as homecoming activities, dances and food drives. Their purpose is not to govern the students, but to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information between the student body and the administration.
World Connections Club
Sponsor: Ms. Barrett and Mrs. Lazaga
Open to any HSE student. Members sponsor several activities involving our foreign exchange students to welcome them to America and to also learn about their country. Our activities are fun , but also help us appreciate American culture while learning about other world cultures. Activities include our sponsorship of a South American child, participation in the Renaissance Fair, Billericay Day and trips to foreign restaurants.
