Alternative PE Information

Freshmen through junior Fall sport athletes: if you would like to earn one PE credit through participating in your sport, sign up for the Alternative PE program. Go to the HSE website for the application. It is located on the front page of the website in two different places- “Hot Topics” and “Quick Links” section. Fill in all of the required fields, and click Submit. The application is due no later than September 15th. See your Counselor for questions.

Hamilton County College Fair - September 21st

The Hamilton County College Fair will be held here at HSE on September 21st from 6:30–8:00 p.m. All students and parents are welcome. This is a great opportunity for students to get a jump-start on their college search. There will be over 100 colleges in attendance. IU Groups Scholars Program

Seniors: the IU Groups Scholars Program applications are available in the guidance office from Ms. Baltz. In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria: Be an Indiana resident, have a 2.5 or higher GPA, demonstrate financial need, meet the minimum college prep course requirements , and be willing to participate in a credit earning summer program for six weeks. Basketball Cheer Royal Card Pick-Up

Girls Lacrosse Player/Parent Meeting and Fall Conditioning

Izzy Wallace had 2 goals, Katie Reed, Ava Keaffaber with goals and Layla Brown with 2 goals and an assist. Reed, Pozzebon, Bellaver, and McLeish with assists as well.

What a great senior night. HSE came out strong scoring 34 seconds into the game. Maddie Dalton sent in a cross that Izzy Wallace headed in. Wallace assisted the next as Layla Brown shot to the bottom corner. Molly Harris with the next two assists with Claire Wilkinson and Lydia Self on the goals. 4-0 halftime score. Ava Keaffaber got the next two goals assisted by Brown and Wallace. Wallace with another assisted by senior Katie Reed. Taylor Pozzebon with a great shot assisted by Nathalie McLeish. Harris with an unassisted bomb from way out to finish the scoring at 9-0. Seniors Saanika Kamat, Ellie Gerstner, Rylee Nichwitz, Grace Barton, Carly Count, Katie Reed and Claire Eichorst earned the shutout defensively. Next up is Zionsville on Wednesday for the Conference Championship.

Philosophy Club call out

Henna Tattoos are back

Despite this vision, equity continues to be an issue for many in our country. If you are interested in learning more and heightening awareness regarding unconscious bias, institutional racism, intent versus impact and micro-aggressions in our school and community, a new group called Students in Action may be right for you.

HSE Choirs Fall Preview Show

Meditation in SMaRT

Recently there has been a lot in the news about the benefits of meditation. Studies suggest that meditation can help students improve attention skills, reduce anxiety, and promote greater self-awareness and relaxation. If you would like to try out guided meditation, a limited number of students can sign up to participate in a session during SMaRT period on September 18th and 25th in the Mindful Room of the Library Media Center. Mudsock INVENT-athon

The Mudsock Inventathon will challenge teams of FHS and HSE students to invent a product that solves a real problem in the world using a kit of supplies from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Students will race the 4-hour clock to brainstorm, build, test, and optimize their invention at Launch Fishers. The kicker is students will not know the theme or challenge until the day of the event and school-based teams will be formed randomly. This exclusive event will be limited to the first 30 students to sign up with equal participation from each school. Photos and videos of inventions will be shared on social media platforms and MIT will award prizes to top competitors. Sign up the in the CCA office or see Mr. Harter if you have questions.

PowderPuff Wednesday Night

School Picture Retake Day

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS •Must be an Indiana resident •Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen •Must be a current high school senior or college student in Indiana •Must have graduated or will graduate from an Indiana accredited high school or non-accredited nonpublic high school •Must be able to utilize the scholarship for at least two full academic years (effective for Fall 2017-2018 applicants) •Must rank in the top 20% of high school graduating class or have a top 20% ACT or SAT score •Must currently attend or plan to attend an eligible Indiana institution as a full-time student •In some cases, degree-seeking students may use the scholarship during the summer while enrolled part-time. NROTC Scholarship

Wells Scholarship
