2010-11 Four Star Schools include eight from HSE district

The Indiana Department of Education recently named eight Hamilton Southeastern district schools as 2010-11 Four Star Schools. They include Brooks School Elementary, Fall Creek Intermediate, Geist Elementary, Hamilton Southeastern Junior High, Harrison Parkway Elementary, Lantern Road Elementary, New Britton Elementary and Riverside Intermediate.
Four Star Schools must meet the following criteria:
***Perform in the top 25th percentile in the state***
- Percent of students passing English/language arts combined with the percent passing math on ISTEP (Grades 3-8) or End of Course Assessments (ECA’s in high school English 10 and Algebra I)
- Percent of students passing both English/language arts and math on ISTEP (Grades 3-8) or both End of Course exams (high school English 10 and Algebra I)
***Make Adequate Yearly Progress based on state goals (AYP – Federal No Child Left Behind measure)***
- Percent passing state-required ISTEP or ECA’s at the district and building levels as well as within any demographic subgroups that have at least 30 students
- Attendance rates in elementary and middle schools
- Graduation rates for high schools
