FHS’s Singin’ in the Rain features downpours on stage

Release Date: November 14th, 2011

The weather report guarantees rain twice on stage at Fishers High School during its production of Singin’ in the Rain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week. Special effects for the musical have it raining at the end of both Act I and II. The production also features several huge tap dancing scenes. The show on November 17, 18 and 19 begins at 7 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium with $7 admission for adults and $5 for students.

Based on the MGM movie classic starring Gene Kelly, the story is set at the end of the silent movie era. The great Lina Lamont and Don Lockwood are stars of the silver screen until they have to actually speak and sing. The challenge is finding a solution when the lead actor’s voice doesn’t match her appearance.

The cast includes 45 students; the pit orchestra, 30; and the crew, 25. Matt Rund is the director, Andy Smith is technical director, Charles Kunz is musical director, Jen Vrabec is choreographer and Al Lucas is vocal director.
