Counseling and Support
An elementary counselor is a school person specifically trained to understand and work with young children. Hamilton Southeastern Schools provide a counselor in each elementary building. Parents may contact their counselor by calling their school office.
What does an elementary counselor do?
- Helps students understand and accept themselves and others.
- Talks with students individually and in groups.
- Works with parents and teachers to help students.
- Coordinates services with other school specialists.
- Facilitates the identification of the special needs of students.
- Assists children to develop a positive attitude towards school and learning.
- Serves as a liaison between parents, schools and community resources.
