Seven HSE Destination Imagination teams headed to Global contest May 23-27
May 17th, 2012
Hamilton Southeastern Schools had 7 out of its 17 Destination Imagination (DI) teams in the state level contest qualify for Global competition May 23-27 at the University of Tennessee. Three teams earned first and four came in second making them eligible for Globals. HSE began with 19 teams in the regional contest with 17 advancing to state competition. Kristy Seitz, Robin Young and Kathy Seitz are the DI school coordinators.
Three teams competed in the scientific challenge where students had to create a new way to use solar energy. One middle grade team took first while a second middle grade group and a senior level team both earned seconds.
Another team won second when members improvised about current events in a challenge called "News to Me." They had to use multiple examples of human scenery, and judges threw in a last minute “glitch” saying students all had to "act like dogs" during the performance.
