Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Fluency Skills or DIBELS follows a preventative model philosophy in which students are
assessed using a systematic process to determine whether or not students are meeting critical milestones in early literacy
skills. Data is collected to provide information to assist teachers in differentiated intervention instruction and to
monitor students in order to ensure that the struggling child is making progress, and that he/she stays on track once
he/she makes benchmark. DIBELS is administered district-wide to assess reading skills in Kindergarten through second grade.
